Don’t wait to be asked!
Come along for a couple of free regular events and see for yourself if the Hartlepool Round Table is for you.
Give it a go!
Give us a ring and we will arrange for an existing Tabler to pick you up and take you to a meeting that’s convenient for you. This will give you the chance to meet everyone and get a feel for the club
Think about joining
Once you’ve been to a couple of meetings, you will become a “prospective member”. This means you have declared a strong interest in becoming a member, and the Tablers at your local club will spend some time explaining what kinds of things they do socially, the week-to-week rhythms of the club, and where they focus their community involvement, perhaps. This is the time where you seriously consider your involvement, and whether you want to join.
Take the plunge
The final step is then that you are invited to join, and are enrolled. Depending on the club, this can in itself be an experience! Philip Murray is a 30-year-old Pharmaceutical Replenishment Controller who joined Margate Round Table in 2009. He had a very memorable enrolment:
“My initiation was in fact at 1,344 metres (4409 ft) above sea level on the peak of Ben Nevis on 19th June 2009 – the day before my 30th Birthday, an unbelievable HIGHlight. This was part of our sponsored Three Peak Challenge in aid of Diabetes UK and our own Margate Round Table Wish Appeal.
“We faced the elements and our Chairman Matthew Jury performed the windy (and unconfirmed) highest Table initiation to date. The added bonus, (other than being handed my Table badge) was the extremely well-travelled and snow-cold beer!
“I could not have hoped for a more welcoming group of guys to become a part of, and welcome any other Table member to challenge my up-in-the clouds-initiation!”
